postmodernism
a futuristic library with a new ‘reading’ experience done through 3ds max
“Solitary” is a postmodern library with a futuristic take. It offers a unique reading experience that allows visitors to be immersed in a dream state - to control and live through the stories using VR devices. During this time, time freezes, resulting in users finishing the stories over the span of minutes. Users are given individual library pods to provide privacy while depicting disconnection of society from each other despite proximity and momentary disconnection from the physical surroundings. Technology becomes an instrument to switch one reality with another chosen ‘reality’. Holograms are used to adorn the exterior of the building for advertising.

postmodernism
To further understand postmodernism, research about the 80s was done prior. A series of topics were chosen to represent a series of conceptual explorations - Interior Design, Art, Video and Fashion. Images from these sections are manipulated, distorted and transformed.
Interior Design
Stern’s Pool House is transformed by incorporating Memphis design patterns and bold colours, taking into consideration the ideas of Postmodern designs as being overwhelming with a lot going on.
>
Art
Keith Haring’s art warning of pro-violence propoganda by television is reinterpreted using beloved video game character, Mario, in the line of fire yet the masses celebrate his impending doom.
>
Video
For this transformation, elements from a still image from Prince’s music video is deconstructed and reassembled to create an album cover collage for the song - When Doves Cry.
>
Fashion
A still image of supermodel Pat Cleveland is transformed through the prevalence of repetition in the patterns of her dress in order to explore the illusion of movement.
